About The Project

As part of an IoT-based platform, I designed the Edge & Device Management module, a core component aimed at streamlining the onboarding of pre-configured gateways and the subsequent association of specific devices with these gateways. This module facilitated the seamless integration of device-generated tags into the platform, allowing for easy enrichment and customization based on specific requirements. The project focused on simplifying the onboarding process while ensuring flexibility and scalability, enhancing the overall efficiency and usability of the platform.

Complex Device Onboarding: Onboarding pre-configured gateways and associating specific devices with these gateways was a complex process that needed simplification.

Device Tag Management: Including and managing tags generated by devices on the platform was cumbersome and required a streamlined approach.

User Accessibility: Ensuring that users could easily navigate and utilize the module without extensive training was a significant challenge.

Integration with Other Modules: Ensuring seamless synchronization with other modules within the platform was critical to maintain coherence and functionality.

Simplified Device Tag Enrichment: The device tag enrichment UI needed to be simpler, allowing users to easily enrich tags without it becoming a cumbersome task.

User Flows

Collaborated closely with the product manager to develop user flows, as these flows provided a clear understanding of the various actions users could take and the possible journeys the user could take.

Wireframes

The wireframes were created basis the above user flows. These wireframes were extensively discussed with stakeholders and cross-functional teams in the early stages to guarantee consensus among all parties. Including the frontend team early in the process was seen as vital to identify and address any potential limitations promptly. Likewise, the backend team received a comprehensive briefing upfront regarding the varied requirements, and their potential limitations were thoroughly discussed and taken into consideration.

The designs adopted a clear and user-friendly approach, acknowledging the platform's substantial data content. Additionally, considering that various modules were integrated into the same platform, consistent design principles were applied throughout. A minimalist approach was uniformly embraced across all modules.
